Other Brazzi's notable roles include an early Hollywood part in Little Women (1948), as well as visible roles in The Story of Esther Costello (1957), South Pacific (1958), The Barefoot Contessa, The Light in the Piazza (1962), and as the murdered Roger Beckerman in The Italian Job. Raffaele Vallone, known as Raf, (born 17th February, 1916 – died 31st October, 2002), was an Italian actor and an international film star.
Born in Tropea, Calabria, Italy, the son of a lawyer, Vallone studied Law and Philosophy at the University of Turin and entered his father's law firm. He also played semi-professional soccer but never realized his dream of becoming a professional athlete. Subsequently, he became a sports reporter for L'Unità, a communist newspaper, and also a drama critic for La Stampa. During World War II, Vallone served with the anti-Fascist resistance.

MICHAEL CAINE - Charlie Croker

Sir Maurice Joseph Micklewhite, Jr., CBE (born 14th March, 1933), better known by his screen name Michael Caine, is an Oscar- and BAFTA-winning English film actor who has appeared in more than one hundred films.
Caine's acting career began in Horsham, West Sussex. He responded to an advertisement for an assistant stage manager for the Horsham-based Westminster Repertory Company. This led to walk-on roles at the Carfax Theatre. After several minor roles, Caine came into the public eye as the upper-class British army officer Gonville Bromhead VC in the 1964 film Zulu. This proved paradoxical, as Caine was to become notable for using a regional accent, rather than the received pronunciation hitherto considered proper for film actors. At the time, Caine's working-class Cockney, just as with The Beatles' Liverpudlian accents, stood out to American and British audiences alike. Zulu was closely followed by two of his best-known roles: the spy Harry Palmer in The Ipcress File (1965), and the woman-chasing title character in Alfie (1966). He went on to play Palmer in a further four films, Funeral in Berlin (1966), Billion-Dollar Brain (1967), Bullet to Beijing (1995) and Midnight in St. Petersburg (1995). Caine made his first movie in the United States in 1966, after an invitation from Shirley MacLaine to play opposite her in Gambit. During the first two weeks, whilst staying at the Beverly Hills Hotel, he met long term friends John Wayne and agent "Swifty" Lazar.
After ending the 1960s with the equally iconic The Italian Job, with Noel Coward, and a solid role as an RAF fighter pilot, Squadron Leader Canfield, in the all-star cast of Battle of Britain (1969), Caine entered the 1970s with Get Carter, a British gangster film. Caine was busy throughout the 1970s, with successes including Sleuth (1972), opposite Sir Laurence Olivier and The Man Who Would Be King (1975), costarring Sean Connery and directed by the legendary John Huston.
Caine lives near Leatherhead in Surrey, and is patron to the Leatherhead Drama Festival. In addition, Caine owns a penthouse in Miami Beach, Florida.
He was married to actress Patricia Haines from 1955 to 1958; they had one daughter, Dominique. Caine has been married to actress and model Shakira Baksh since January 8, 1973. They have a daughter named Natasha.
Some time after his mother died, Caine and his younger brother, Stanley, learned they had an elder half-brother, named David. He suffered from severe epilepsy and had been kept in Cane Hill Mental hospital his entire life. Although their mother regularly visited her first son in hospital, even her husband did not know the child existed. David died in 1992.
Caine is a fan of the football team Chelsea FC.
Trivia books written by Caine include Not Many People Know That!, And Not Many People Know This Either!, Michael Caine's Moving Picture Show and Not A Lot of People Know This is 1988. Proceeds from the books went to the National Playing Fields Association (now Fields In Trust) of which Caine was a prominent supporter.
Unlike many actors who adopt their stage name for everyday use, Caine still uses his real name when he is not working.

NOEL COWARD - Mr. Bridger

Sir Noël Peirce Coward (born 16th December, 1899 – died 26th March, 1973) was an English actor, playwright and composer of popular music. Among his achievements, he received an Academy Certificate of Merit at the 1943 Academy Awards for "outstanding production achievement for In Which We Serve."
Coward's popularity as a playwright declined sharply in the 1950s, with plays such as Quadrille, Relative Values, Nude with Violin and South Sea Bubble failing to find much favour with critics or audiences. Despite this he maintained a high public profile, continuing to write (and occasionally star in) moderately successful West End plays and musicals, performing an acclaimed solo cabaret act in Las Vegas, and starring in films such as Bunny Lake is Missing, Around the World in 80 Days, Our Man in Havana, Boom! and The Italian Job as Mr. Bridger.
By now suffering from severe arthritis and bouts of memory loss, which affected his work in The Italian Job, Coward retired from the theatre. He was knighted in 1970, and died in Jamaica in March 1973 of heart failure. He was buried three days later on the brow of Firefly Hill, Jamaica, overlooking the north coast of the island. On 28th March 1984, a memorial stone was unveiled by the Queen Mother in Poets’ Corner, Westminster Abbey.

GRAHAM PAYN - Keats

Graham Payn (born 25th April, 1918 – died 4th November, 2005) was born in Pietermaritzburg in South Africa. He was a British actor and singer, gay and the life partner of the late Sir Noel Coward.
Payn moved with his family to England when he was about ten years old (circa 1928). He became a boy soprano in concerts and in boy's choirs. He made his first stage appearance at thirteen at the Palladium, as "Curly" in Peter Pan. At the age of fourteen he appeared in Noel Coward's revue Words and Music. Payn's audition consisted of a tap dance routine which he performed while singing "Nearer, My God, to Thee".
In 1945, Coward wrote a leading role in Sigh No More specifically for Payn.
Payn appeared nearly continuously in the West End for the next twenty years of his life. He appeared on Broadway in Coward's Tonight at 8:30, and in films including The Italian Job.
Payn died at the couple's home in Switzerland, aged 87 on 4th November, 2005.

MAGGIE BLYE - Lorna

Margaret Jane Blye - (born 24th October, 1942 – died 24th March, 2016) On the 28th September, 2008, I received a reply from Maggie, in which she signed three items and wrote me a nice letter. She mentioned that she was in good health, and of her most recent film "Man in the Chair", she co-stared with Christopher Plummer, Michael Angarano, Emmett Walsh and Robert Wagner, and was to be released shortly on DVD.
She also went on to say that she had been invited to take part in a new documentary for the re-release of "The Italian Job" in 2009, and of a possible reunion in the summer of 2009 in Turin, Italy, with the original cast and crew.
Maggie died on March 24, 2016 from cancer at her home in West Hollywood, California, aged 73.

HENRY McGEE - The Tailor

Henry McGee (born 14th May, 1929 – died 28th January, 2006) was a British actor best known as straight man to Benny Hill for many years. McGee was also often the announcer on Hill's TV programme, delivering the upbeat intro "Yes! It's The Benny Hill Show!"
Born in South Kensington, London, McGee hoped to become a doctor, but the death of his father when he was 17 put financial strains on the family that ended his plans. Having enjoyed acting as a boy, McGee decided to follow his mother's side of the family, which could trace its involvement in acting back to Kitty Clive. He went on to play supporting roles in films and television series and dramas, including The Saint and The Avengers, but it is for comedy roles that he is best remembered. His most enduring role was as the long-suffering 'mummy' of Honey Monster, a large, yellow, furry creature in advertisements for the breakfast cereal Sugar Puffs.
McGee played Two-Ton Ted in the video of Ernie (The Fastest Milkman In The West). Other comedy roles included the centre manager in On The Buses, and opposite Charlie Drake in The Worker (1965–1970). In The Italian Job, he was un-credited as the tailor.
He had a long and successful theatre career, during which he tackled a wide range of roles, receiving plaudits for deadpan delivery in farces such as Plunder.
McGee had one daughter, Stephanie. He spent his last six months in a nursing home, suffering from Alzheimer's disease.

SIMON DEE - Adrian, The Shirtmaker

Cyril Nicholas Henty-Dodd (born 28th July, 1935, England - died 30th August, 2009) is better known by his stage name Simon Dee. He was a British television interviewer and radio disc jockey who hosted a twice-weekly chat show Dee Time, but after moving from the BBC to London Weekend Television he was dropped and his career never recovered.
In 1967 Dee began his early evening chat show on BBC television, which opened with the announcer, Len Martin (hotfoot from reading the football results on Grandstand), emulating Ed McMahon's introduction to The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson ('It's Siiiiimon Dee!') and closed with Dee driving off in a E-type Jaguar through the helter-skelter ramp of the Piccadilly Hotel, Manchester, accompanied by model, Lorna McDonald . The show was remarkably successful, with up to 18 million viewers. Actress Elizabeth Hurley has claimed that he was the model for Austin Powers in the spoof 1960s films of 1997-2002. Dee himself had cameo roles in some films, including The Italian Job (1969) and Doctor in Trouble (1970). He was first imprisoned for debt in March 1968, in Brixton prison where every time he left his cell, the wing would resound to the cry of 'It's Siiiiiimon Dee' from all the other prisoners. On this first internment he was so shocked that, while in the reception area waiting to be assigned to a cell, he swore that he would never get into debt again.
After a bizarre interview with George Lazenby (who had been smoking cannabis and outlined his theories on the assassination of John F. Kennedy at length), the show was not recommissioned. No alternative format for Dee was tried and he disappeared from the airwaves; when he signed on for unemployment benefit at Fulham labour exchange, there was considerable press coverage. Unable to revive his show business career, he eventually took a job as a bus driver; he also had several court appearances and some short jail terms in the 1970's over more unpaid debts.
Sadly, Simon died on Sunday, 30th August, 2009, just weeks after being diagnosed with bone cancer.

His final film was with Peter Sellers in The Fiendish Plot of Dr. Fu Manchu in 1980. In most of his performances, he presented an impression of good-natured vagueness, which acquaintances claim was close to his true personality.
Towards the end of Dad's Army Le Mesurier became seriously ill, and lost a great deal of weight. He died at Ramsgate from a stomach haemorrhage, (which was brought on by cirrhosis of the liver) on 15th November 1983, aged 71. He is buried in the churchyard of the Church of St. George the Martyr, Church Hill, Ramsgate. BENNY HILL - Prof. Simon Peach

Alfred Hawthorne Hill (born 21st January, 1924 – died 19th April, 1992), better known as Benny Hill, was a prolific English comic, actor and singer, best known for his television programme, The Benny Hill Show.
Benny Hill's film credits include parts in nine films including Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines (1965); Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (1968), in which he played the relatively straight role of the Toymaker; The Italian Job (1969); and, finally, a clip-show film spin-off of his early Thames shows (1969–73), called The Best of Benny Hill (1974).
Hill's audio recordings include "Gather in the Mushrooms" (1961), "Transistor Radio" (1961), "Harvest of Love" (1963), "Ernie (The Fastest Milkman In The West)" (1971). He also appeared in the 1986 video of the song "Anything She Does" by the band Genesis.
Hill's song, "Ernie (The Fastest Milkman In The West)," on the Best of Benny Hill album made the UK chart as Christmas number one single in 1971.
Hill's health began to decline in the early 1990s. He suffered heart problems, and on 11 February 1992, doctors told him he needed to lose weight and recommended a heart bypass. He declined and was diagnosed a week later with renal failure.
Benny Hill died on or about 19 April 1992, Easter weekend, alone in his flat at 7 Fairwater House, Twickenham Road, Teddington, South West London, at the age of 68. On 21 April, neighbours called the police, who then found Hill, deceased, sitting in his armchair in front of the television. On the day Hill died, a new contract arrived in the post from Central Independent Television.
The cause of death was listed as coronary thrombosis. His death coincided with that of Frankie Howerd, who died on 19 April aged 75. An obituary appeared in newspapers on 20 April, with Hill (whose death was yet to be discovered) saying that he and Howerd were "great friends". This has led to confusion as to who died first.
Hill was buried at Hollybrook Cemetery near his birthplace in Southampton. In October 1992, following rumours that he was buried with large amounts of gold jewellery, an attempt was made by thieves to exhume his body. However, when authorities looked into his open coffin the following morning, there was no treasure. Consequently, only the culprits know whether anything valuable was inside. Hill was re-buried with a new coffin lid and a solid slab across the top of the grave.

HARRY BAIRD - Big William

Harry Baird (born 12th May, 1931 - died 13th February, 2005) was a Guyana-born British actor who came to prominence in the 1960s.
Baird was born in Georgetown, British Guiana and was educated in Canada and England. He was given his film break in 1954 as a boxer named Jamaica in the Carol Reed film A Kid for Two Farthings (1955). A year later he appeared in Kismet at the Stoll Theatre in London, and although he had a role in Jean Genet's The Blacks in 1961, he subsequently appeared mostly in film and television. His first lead role was as Atimbu, in the White Hunter series in 1958. A series of stereotypical roles followed in low-budget films with generic African or 'jungle' themes.
His most high-profile role, however, was in the Michael Relph-Basil Dearden racial drama Sapphire (1959). Quality roles for a black actor in Britain remained scarce, although he appeared in supporting roles in the Patrick McGoohan vehicle Danger Man and the Gerry Anderson series UFO (1970) as Lieutenant Bradley, although he left the series midway through the run. Baird's only true lead role was in the 1968 Melvin Van Peebles drama The Story of a Three-Day Pass in which Baird played a French soldier who falls for a white Parisian woman. Based on Van Peebles own novel La Permission, it is arguably Baird's finest performance. Other roles included The Whisperers (1967) with Edith Evans, The Touchables (1968) (in which he played a gay wrestler named Lillywhite), the Hammer film The Oblong Box (1969) with Vincent Price, and The Italian Job (1969) alongside his friend Michael Caine, whose wife, fellow Guyanan Shakira Baksh, Baird had appeared alongside on UFO.
Baird was diagnosed with glaucoma in the 1970s, a condition which ultimately left him blind. He died of cancer in London in 2005.
